EMC Mark Testing

CE Mark Testing for the Low-Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC

In these days of increasing company and personal liability, safety of electrical/electronic products is of major importance. Most countries have imposed strict regulations on these products. EMC Technologies can help clients who are developing electrical or electronic products to obtain the necessary safety certifications and meet the appropriate quality standards.

As of January 1, 1997 it became mandatory for manufacturers of electrical equipment destined for European Union countries, to comply with requirements of the Low-Voltage Directive (LVD). The LVD (73/23/EEC plus parts of 93/68/EEC) requires electrical equipment to comply with specific design standards so that the user and consumers are offered protection from electric shock and fire, as well as other electrical, thermal, and product construction hazards.

The LVD applies to all electrical equipment designed for use with voltages between 50-1000 VAC and 75-1500 VDC. The approval process does not require the intervention of a European test lab or notified body so the manufacturer/supplier can complete the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) based on EMC Technologies tests report.

Our electrical safety services begin with an inspection and survey of your equipment by our safety experts, to identify possible product safety deficiencies. We evaluate your product for construction details, design requirements, and component make up against the applicable European harmonized standards. We also review schematics and instruction manuals for appropriate labelling and safety information details. Our test reports outline the recommended corrective actions, with an emphasis on the design considerations that may affect EMC test results. We also specify a suite of tests which will demonstrate conformity for the product, and allow you to decide which test to perform first; EMC or LVD.

Indoor OATS and Multi-Function EMC Test Chamber Commissioned at EMC Technologies Keilor Park

EMC Technologies has announced the commissioning of their new multi-function EMC test chamber at their Keilor Park laboratories. The new anechoic/semi-anechoic chamber with outside dimensions 22m x 13.4m x 9.8m (LxWxH) was supplied and installed by Frankonia GmbH and is the only one of its type in Australia/New Zealand. The chamber has undergone final commission and verification testing to a range of emission and immunity standards including CISPR standards requiring a 10 metre Open Area Test Site (OATS). Reports for tests performed within the chamber will be NATA endorsed in accordance with EMC Technologies wide scope of accreditation. Read more>
