Immunity Standards
- IEC/EN 61000-4-3
- ISO 11451-2
- ISO 11452-2
- MIL-STD 461 A, B, C, D, E & F and MIL-STD 462.
- CISPR 25/AS/NZS CISPR 25 including Ford, GM, Toyota automotive requirements.
- Automotive tests to Ford, GM, Toyota and similar requirements.
- RTCA DO160F
Unique features of this indoor OATS:
- full compliance with CISPR standards for a 2m x 2m x 2m test volume to 18 GHz
- the only NATA accredited facility within Australia for CISPR testing in the range 1 GHz to 6 GHz.
- full compliance with CISPR 22. While this standard allows 3m tests for small Class B products,it does not
permit 3m tests for any Class A product or for larger Class B products.
- full compliance with CISPR 11 which does not permit 3m OATS tests for any class of product.
- 2 tonne, 3 metre diameter variable speed turntable allows compliant testing of large systems
and racks
- 3 phase supply to test sample
- international recognition imminent: FCC, Industry Canada, VCCI (Japan), BSMI (Taiwan) and others
The chamber has a 4m x 4m pneumatically operated door for vehicle access plus the usual standard access door. It was designed and built so that a 6.5 m 10 tonne turntable with integral 4WD dynamometer can be retrofitted. This will provide full immunity testing capability to the Australian automotive industry so that they will no longer need to send whole vehicles and engineering teams to overseas test facilities.
The new chamber represents an investment of around $1.8 million dollars greatly enhances EMCT’s test capabilities and also replaces the Lerderderg Gorge OATS. The no-ambient RF environment combined with the savings achieved by the elimination of the travel time to the outdoor OATS will result in considerable gains in operational efficiencies including greatly reduced test time, reduced travel time to and from the OATS, reduced test sample setup times, reduced down time due to inclement weather and greater convenience for customers who attend the testing.

EMC Technologies-Melbourne Has Moved!

EMC Technologies' commitment to being a world leader in the field of compliance testing and approvals is underscored by the $4.5 million investment in new building and test facilities which will service the needs of Australian industry well into the future. The new building in Melbourne is a purpose built state of the art test facility of 3500 square metres, conveniently located at nearby Keilor Park adjacent to the Calder freeway and Western Ring Road. Lead time for testing will be essentially eliminated by the greatly expanded range of test chambers, equipment and facilities, as well as increased testing scope.
The new facilities include:
- 8 EMC test chambers, 2 of which will be semi-anechoic and CISPR 25/ MIL-STD 461 compliant to 40 GHz.
- Immunity testing capability increased to over 200 V/m in the 10 kHz to 18 GHz range.
- SAR measurement lab for testing of mobile phones and body worn RF devices.
- RF/EMC calibration facilities for EMR probes, RF Badges, antennas, LISNs, Receivers, Spectrum analysers and other EMC test equipment.
- Fully compliant CISPR Pulse Generator for Receiver/spectrum analyser calibration.
- A large GTEM 1750 with septum height of 1.75m for testing to IEC/EN61000-4-20. GTEM allows emission and immunity testing to 18 GHz, generating very high field strengths for immunity testing and probe calibration.
- 2 special purpose labs available for hire for those unusual RF/EMC test requirements, R&D and product development.
- DEFSEC accreditation.
- Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) of the UK allows fully recognised testing for local certification of vehicles and OEM components to European and ECE Reg 10 requirements.
- NATA accreditation to AEMCLRP EMC requirements for testing Automotive products to Ford, GM and Chrysler standards.
- Future 10 metre CISPR anechoic chamber for in-door Open Area Test Site measurements and for whole vehicle testing.
- Future Stirred mode chamber to accommodate large vehicles and equipment.
- Future safety and environmental testing.
- Dedicated conference and training auditorium includes the latest audiovisual facilities and accommodates around 40 persons.
The new facilities were designed with the client in mind and an emphasis on security. Total product and client confidentiality is provided by means of programmable magnetic cards that restrict access to dedicated test labs and rooms. The defence security rated Strong Room is also available to commercial clients. Clients attending testing may be designated exclusive access to one of three secure client rooms (offices) where they can work in private while testing is proceeding in the laboratories. The client rooms have phone, internet access and general office facilities.
EMC Technologies is the leading Australian/New Zealand test house and a world leader in the field of product compliance. No other test has the wide scope of international recognition providing a "single test for global markets".
