Welcome.....
|
| EMC
Technologies' Auckland Labs have been operating since 1987, previously
under the Ministry of Commerce, and as EMC Technologies New Zealand Ltd
since April 1998. |
In
common with our sister Labs in Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide we
offer a comprehensive emission and immunity testing service but in addition,
we are the only independent Australian/New Zealand compliance lab able
to offer an accredited radio type approval equipment testing service. |
Our
test team is ably led by Andrew Cutler (General Manager). We look forward
to meeting you and discussing your compliance needs. |
|
Confidentiality is assured. We are not an in-house lab of a manufacturer-
there is no possibility of conflict with your business as we are not involved
in selling and manufacturing products that may be in conflict with your
business

TESTING CAPABILITY
Testing takes place at the Grey Lynn Lab and at the OATS at Ardmare aerodrome located near Papakura
about 40 minutes drive from the Lab.
EMC Technologies Auckland has IANZ accreditation for all the major European Emission and Immunity standards.
Our testing is accredited by TUV Product Services for CB (Competent Body)
certificates or TUV PS certificates.
Following an intensive assessment by International Accreditation New Zealand, (formerly TELARC) we have recently
been designated as a European Union (EU) Conformity Assessment Body (CAB)
as allowed for under the EU Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive
89/336/EEC.
The designation as a CAB will allow the laboratory to perform local conformity assessment (both testing
and Competent Body) of all electrical products under the scope of the EMC
Directive which previously could only be carried out by Competent Bodies
in Europe.
For a full listing of the comprehensive testing services offered by the Auckland Lab, have a look at the testing
services page and feel free to contact
us. |

JOINT EMI
TESTING SERVICE: AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
Information technology equipment
and telecom products can generate radio interference (EMI).
In New Zealand, these products
are required to meet either the IEC CISPR 22 or AS/NZ 3548 standard (both
are equivalent).
In Australia, products that
connect to a telecom network are required by the Australian Communications
Authority (ACA) to meet AS/NZ 3548 as part of the C-tick requirements.
Our laboratory is approved
in New Zealand and Australia for EMI testing to these standards.
| By having
your products tested by us, you can simultaneously meet New Zealand and
Australian requirements. |
|
|
By using our services, you
are assured of a level of quality which is recognised internationally due

ELECTROMAGNETIC IMMUNITY TESTING
Do your products need to be immune to the electromagnetic environment in which they operate?
Do they need to comply with the EMC directive 89/336/EEC ?
Do they need CE marking?
Products can be affected in many subtle ways by electromagnetic energy.
For example:
- A computer could lose a few bits of data on a random basis.
- A crane controller could suddenly drop its load without warning.
- An electronic door lock may suddenly open.
- An audio amplifier or a telephone could pick up land mobile conversations.
This electromagnetic energy is emitted by a very large number of products in daily use in our domestic,
industrial and business environments.
This problem is recognised internationally, and has resulted in the development of a series of EMC
immunity standards.
EMC Technologies New Zealand is IANZ accredited to perform the following immunity testing which meet
most CE marking standards listed on the official Journal of the European
Union:
- Electrostatic Discharge Testing to IEC 61000-4-2
Air Discharges up to 15kV
Contact Discharges up to 8kV
- Radiated Immunity Testing to IEC 61000-4-3
10V/m 80 - 1000MHz
3V/m 26 - 1000MHz
- Electrical Fast Transient Bursts to IEC 61000-4-4
- Surge Immunity Testing to IEC 61000-4-5
- Conducted Immunity Testing to IEC 61000-4-6
3V, 150kHz - 230MHz
- Voltage Dips and Short Interruptions to IEC 61000-4-11
Test sample rating up to 24 amps
- Mains Harmonics to IEC 61000-3-2
- Flicker to IEC 61000-3-3
- Voltage dips and short interruptions to IEC 61000-4-11 (Test sample rating to 24 amps)
|
TESTING
We can conduct the tests ourselves for you, or you can join us during the testing.
We will work with you to assist
you in developing the immunity of your product, if required.
We will provide you a test
report indicating the sensitive frequencies, the degradation or fault observed,
and the field levels of immunity.
|
GLOBAL PRODUCT COMPLIANCE TESTING
Are you an exporter?
Must your products comply with the radio or EMC type approval standards in the countries to which you
are exporting?
We are pleased to announce that our Radio Type Testing and EMC testing services are now accepted by
most countries including Europe where the RTTE Directive is enforced. This
list is growing, so contact us to check on a standard even if it is not on this list.
In some cases, access to a country is achieved by formal agreement with a local testing company located
in that country. For a small number of specialised or unique tests, we
arrange for this company to conduct these tests.
|
WHY USE US
You are able to arrange for
testing and certification to many countries’ requirements at the same time.
You avoid the cost and inconvenience
of arranging testing and certification in a country outside your region.
You can easily travel to our
laboratory, because it is conveniently nearby, to observe and participate
in the testing if necessary.
You can be assured of quality
services, due to our IANZ laboratory accreditation.
|
SERVICE DELIVERY AND FEES
Our fees are very competitive internationally, and our turn-around times are amongst the best in the
world. No longer will you have to tolerate lengthy and expensive delays
for testing, before commencing selling. We provide a turn-around time of
one week for most standards, provided a laboratory booking is made.
