EMC Technologies Pty Ltd has the first fully compliant Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) test laboratories in Brisbane, Queensland. The EMC test facilities are based at Acacia Ridge with the location of the Open Area Test Site (OATS) at Milbong. This development follows from extensive consultation and assistance from the Queensland Government's Department of State Development (DSD). Through a number of targeted forums for the Electronics Industry, DSD identified a critical shortfall in testing for electronics equipment manufacturing. EMC Technologies provided a presentation at DSD's Forum on "Test requirements for Manufacturing" in November 2001 and were also part of the Test Advisory Group sponsored by DSD. The final result is the establishment of the EMC Technologies test facility in Queensland which now provides an effective, local capability for the industry.

EMC Technologies' is the leading Australian EMC test house and the only one providing NATA accredited testing to all emission and immunity standards required for Australian, European and other overseas approvals. Their extensive resources in testing, certification, approvals and EMC engineering is now available locally.

While very limited and fragmented EMC testing services have been available in Brisbane, local manufacturers have had to travel to the Southern States for final compliance testing to CE, C-tick and FCC standards. As part of the internationally recognized EMC Technologies group, the Brisbane facilities provide Queensland industry with the benefits of their extensive EMC facilities and their global network of approvals experts. The facilities are NATA accredited for emission and immunity testing. This allows considerable savings in time and money for Queensland industry. It is planned to extend the scope of services to include Military, Aerospace and Automotive EMC standards. EME/EMR testing, prediction and modelling services are also covered.
