MAINS HARMONICS and VOLTAGE FLICKER TESTING
AS/NZS 61000.3.2, AS/NZS 61000.3.3
EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3
IEC 61000-3-2, IEC 61000-3-3
EMC Technologies is now able to provide state-of-the-art testing in-house, to the various Mains Harmonic emissions standards
AS/NZS 61000.3.2 and the Voltage Flicker/Fluctuations standard AS/NZS 61000.3.3.
These standards are mandated by EMC Directive 89/336/EEC for CE Marking purposes. They are also called up by the Generic Emission standard AS/NZS4251.1
(EN 61000-6-3) which is mandated by the ACA.
The proliferation of electronic equipment in commercial and residential environments have forced governments to mandate
these standards in order to maintain the quality and efficiency of the AC power distribution systems.
These harmonic emissions and voltage fluctuations requirements apply to most products used in a domestic residential environment including domestic appliances such as fridges and washing machines, electric tools and other motor driven devices.
It also includes ITE, TV, Radio Receivers, Audio Amplifiers, devices incorporating rectifiers, switching regulators, lighting
equipment and thyristor controlled devices.
There is widespread lack of knowledge on the performance of products against these standards and compliance can
be difficult for many types of products. Designers should start testing now to establish baseline levels and to allow sufficient time for the development of appropriate engineering solutions.
If compliance problems are experienced, EMC Technologies can draw on their experience to solve the problems.
EMC Technologies reports are recognised by affiliated Competent Bodies in Europe, the FCC (USA) and the
ACA (Australia). They can be used for CE Marking by means of the Declaration of Conformity and the Technical
Construction File route. EMC Technologies can provide an in-house ‘one-stop’ service for all EMC test and approval requirements.
This test capability together with the existing NATA registrations for most of the CISPR / EN / AS/NZS standards,
electrical safety and ACA interworking standards complements EMC Technologies global product certification
service to standards and regulations such as US (FCC), European, New Zealand, ACA and MIL-STD461/2.
