LOCAL RADIOCOMMUNICATIONS APPROVALS

31 Jan 2000

EMC Technologies NZ Ltd are now able to offer accredited radio testing facilities for transmitters exported to Europe. The scope of accreditation has been extended to include of I-ETS 300 330 and EN 300 220-1 for low power transmitters operating between 100 kHz and 1000 MHz along with ETS 300 683 which covers the EMC requirements of these devices. Measurements are performed on transmitters and receivers that operate between 100 kHz and 26 GHz with powers ranging from 1 pW right up to several hundred watts. Testing to ETS 300 086 for Europe, is also offered based upon the individual tests that have already been accredited.

Europe also requires EMC testing of radio products. Fully accredited testing is also available to radiocomms EMC standards such as ETS 300 339, ETS 300 385, ETS 300 279 and now ETS 300 683.

In addition EMC Technologies is able to offer accredited high and low power transmitter testing for New Zealand (RFS 29, RFS 25 etc), Australia ( mandatory ACA standards such as AS 4295, AS 4268.2 etc) and the United States (FCC Part 15, Subpart section Cc, Part 22 and Part 90).

With the implementation of the RTT&E Directive on 4 April 2000, these recent accreditations will allow local transmitter products to gain immediate and low cost access to the European Market. The entire testing, CE Marking and Type Approval process can now be performed locally without the involvement of Notified Bodies in Europe. The new RTT&E Directive removes the extremely onerous requirements of the old Type Approval process which only allowed testing and certifications by European based Notified Bodies.

So if you are a local or export manufacturer of radio transmitter devices or electronic products incorporating RF transmitters, . off contact EMC Technologies. Most such devices can now be tested and type approved locally, saving you many thousands of dollars in testing and notified body fees.

The EMC Technologies Group of laboratories can provide a total solution for the regulatory approval of electronic products. This includes EMR and SAR testing of mobile phones and portable handheld or body mounted telecommunications devices.
