SAFETY DECLARATIONS1 INTRODUCTIONThe Australian and European regulations require a Declaration be drawn up which states compliance with the applicable regulations. 2 AUSTRALIAN DECLARATIONThe Australian Declaration of Conformity is the document signed by the supplier to certify that the product meets the applicable standard. It should be made by a responsible and competent person once the supporting evidence has been examined and there are adequate grounds to satisfy the supplier that the product complies. The supplier must hold the signed declaration in Australia responsible for placing the product on the Australian market. Each new model or product requires a Declaration of Conformity. Where changes to a basic compliant model are not sufficiently different, (cosmetic changes only or does not alter the RF emission characteristics established for the basic model), then the supplier may presume compliance. In these cases the supplier may place variants of a basic device on the market under one Declaration of Conformity. The compliance records must include a signed statement, which identifies the variants to which the presumption has been applied, describes the changes made to the basic model and the rationale for marketing the device and variants under a single Declaration of Conformity. Where a supplier is in any doubt as to the likely impact of proposed modifications to a device, the supplier should have the new model tested or establish a TCF for the product and any variants. 2.1 Contents of DeclarationThe following information is to be included in the Declaration:
