We are the only Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing laboratory in Australia,

and one of the most experienced commercial SAR test houses in the
world. EMC Technologies has been testing and certifying products to CE, C-tick, FCC and
VCCI standards and regulations since 1992. The SAR
section was established in 1999 to provide local and overseas SAR
certification to Australian communications Authority (ACA), FCC and CE
R&TTE SAR requirements. Now in our fifth year of SAR
testing we are one of the few SAR test labs using the state-of-the-art
SPEAG DASY4 Professional system with an extensive range of precision SAR
probes and accessories to enable SAR evaluations from 30 MHz to 6 GHz.
Most country’s regulatory and standards bodies (FCC, EU, ACA,
ICNIRP, ARIB,
CENELEC) require compliance testing of low power Mobile
Telecommunication Equipment (MTE) to RF radiation human exposure safety
standards.
The ACA in Australia and FCC in the USA now require all handheld or
body-mounted MTE to be evaluated against human exposure standards, which
set basic restrictions for the Specific Absorption Rate of RF energy by
any part of the human body. SAR is defined as the rate at which RF energy
is absorbed per unit mass of biological tissue.
When a device exceeds the transmit power
threshold, compliance can only be proved with SAR measurements.
EMC Technologies is accredited by NATA and is internationally
recognised. Our team is committed to provide the highest quality service
and we strive to be efficient without compromising accuracy.
We can fulfill most requirements for SAR testing. NATA
accredited testing is performed to ACA EMR Standard 2003, Schedules 1 and
2, EN50360, EN50361, IEEE 1528, FCC OET65C, ARIB and other
international standards. A list of successful FCC certifications and
project references can be provided on request.
EMC Technologies SAR facility is based in Melbourne, Australia.
The recent depreciation of the Australian dollar means a great saving for USA, European and Asian
clients, well worth a FedEx bag. You can even have a trip down under and still save money.
Feel free to ask questions related to SAR or any other aspect of
Electromagnetic Compliance testing. In many cases, RF transmitters
may not require SAR testing (maybe your product doesn’t
require testing). We will be pleased to assist you to determine your
requirements.
Research: The facility is also be available for engineering R&D and scientific research purposes. We have
assisted many of our clients to comply with the SAR standards.
