The entire EMC Technologies group of Test labs are now all accredited for the testing of intentional RF transmitters that require certification. Each of the four labs has been formally designated as a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) for the testing required for the certification of wireless and radio transmitters.
The regulator in Canada, the Department of Innovation, Science and Development (ISED), formerly Industry Canada, has adopted the FCC system of laboratory accreditation whereby test reports submitted to for the certification of radio transmitters will not be accepted if the laboratory that carried out the testing does not appear on the ISED list of accredited laboratories.
EMC Technologies Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland branches as well as a subsidiary company, EMC Bayswater are all accredited for ISED and FCC Part 15C certification testing. ISED accreditation is pending for the Auckland branch. The new system of “accredited” labs replaces the old system of test site “registration” which did not require accreditation of the test lab.
FCC and ISED accreditation now requires the lab to be accredited to ISO 17025 by a recognized accreditation body and the lab must be in a country that has a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) with the USA and Canada. Australia is an MRA country and NATA is a recognized accreditation body.
For FCC certification the lab accreditation must include:
- ANSI C63.4:2014 and ANSI C63.10: 2013
- SAR for devices used in close proximity to the body.
- RF Exposure per FCC KDB 447498
- SAR
For ISED certification the lab must be accredited to:
- RSS-Gen: General Requirements for Compliance of Radio Apparatus
- RSS-210: Licence-Exempt Radio Apparatus: Category I Equipment
- RSS-247: Digital Transmission Systems (DTSs), Frequency Hopping Systems (FHSs) and Licence-Exempt Local Area Network (LE-LAN) Devices
- RSS-102: Radio Frequency (RF) Exposure Compliance of Radiocommunication Apparatus (All Frequency Bands),
- RSS-Gen: General Requirements for Compliance of Radio Apparatus
- RSS 102-Nerve Stimulation 3kHz -10 MHz
- SAR for devices used in close proximity to the body.
- EMC Technologies (Melbourne); ISED and FCC Accreditation numbers AU0001 and AU0001
- EMC Technologies (Sydney): ISED and FCC accreditation numbers AU0002 and AU0002
- EMC Bayswater : (SE Melbourne): ISED and FCC accreditation numbers AU0004 and AU0004
